I ask because I am a poet/musician and I hear jokes on TV often about people think its foolish to date a writer.

   Heck yes we like them. No offense to any guys but a guy that writes..is like a shocker. Which is a good thing.

   ‘OMG a guy who doesn’t just sit in his room and think about *** all day?!’

   and tend to be totaly sexy

   I date anyone that is sensible with money and lives within their means. (ie: only spend what you have, don’t get into debt).

   Most of the jokes are because its hard to keep a steady job in those fields and you end up broke. Only shallow women want rich men, but any sensible lady will want you to pay your half, she doesn’t want to support your art forever and be the only one making money is all.
