Original examples: Hillary Clinton Nancy Pelosi. Also, the Dixie ****** recieved death threats while a male musician like Bruce Springstien was left alone.
New examples: A female celebrity Rosie O’Donnell attacked and insulted left and right while a male celebrity Sean Penn pretty much left alone.
Rush Limbaugh uses the term feminazi as a catch-all phrase when talking about any empowered woman. He uses it to discribe pretty much any woman who doesn’t agree with him.
Why is there a double-standard among the right-wing? Why can a male liberal speak his mind and be pretty much left alone but a female liberal is fair game for any number of personal attacks, threats and libel/slander??
I appreciate the comments, one poster responded by listing some conservative women, and that this somehow refutes my point.
Of all the conservative women out there, perhaps only Ann Coulter (a hatemonger) has been subjected to the same kind of attacks that relitively moderate liberal women have been subjected to.
Name one liberal who has attacked Nancy Reagan or Madeline Albright in the same manner in which Hillary Clinton has been attacked. You can’t, that is becuase the left doesn’t associate an unhealthy fear of strong women, nay it respects them the same as men.

Because the right wing would see women in the house doing dishes and watching soaps. It interferes with there picture perfect world to see one that thinks for themselves, and even worse, speaks out against a male.
As for Miss Rice, she falls in line and makes them look good and not so chauvinistic.

One good reason is how women are treated in the Bible, very poorly.
I think that many conservatives have their perception of women rooted in a world view found in many religious beliefs that identify women as property and inferior to men. When women step outside of this box, they are greatly threatened. That’s why they are identified with terms like feminazi.

Rosie is a **** - that’s why we conservatives don’t like her. Sean Penn isn’t gay, and isn’t throwing out conspiracies every morning on some feminist tv show about 9/11 either.
Rush has a large following of women, so maybe you should try listening to the women he’s referring to as feminazis - I’m guessing he doesn’t use that term for Condie Rice, Laura Bush, etc.

Because the conservatives are afraid of women’s rights, and wage war on the slightest semblance of feminism. They need to spread as much inequality as possible so that rich *men* can stay in power.
One could say the same of Liberals and Conservative women. Coulter, Rice, and others receive the same sort of insensitivity from their philosophical opponents.
You’re right, there is plenty of sexism apparent in their reaction to Pelosi as speaker, first they don’t want her to have a plane, they don’t want her to exercise her power as Speaker, they don’t want her to (god forbid) contradict the President.
They are also virtually hysterical in their criticism of Hillary, they say it is based on her liberal values (though she is actually fairly moderate), and if that’s the case, why don’t they direct as much venom towards John Edwards?
Generally, conservatives want women to be like Laura Bush, all demure and deferential to men (Teresa Kerry was another one who stirred them up because she actually has a few opinions of her own).
All the women you used in your examples are women who would be disliked even if they were men because of their distorted views (if you can even refer to Rosie as a woman). I don’t think the right-wing **** intelligent respectable women. I’ve never had a problem with my fellow right-wingers.
Conservatives have long been opponents of equal rights for women. Despite the fact that conservative women have also benefited from the efforts of liberal women who were at the forefront of the equal rights campaign, such women ignore the recent history of the women’s movement. The conservative base also includes sexists. The appeal to that base, whether direct or subtle, is a continuing theme in conservative politics.

Conservatives love strong women because they challenge us in contrast to liberal men that love women that think they are strong because they are more easily manipulated, i.e. Bill Clinton.

republicans freed the slaves , passed the equal rights amendment,wrote and passed the woman’s right to vote legislation, all with harsh resistance ,even violent resistance from the open minded DEMOCRATS. Most of us also, Marry the woman they love , don’t call their wives their babies momma, thank god for their wife and family every day, Some of us even pray for the democrats and their flip flopping with the wind flow.

So you are 100% correct. There is a double standard. It says Leftest women should never be questioned or held accountable for their actions like equals they say they are.But if you are a right wing woman you can be lied about and attacked every day . No matter what. A real woman, like so many out there who you dont care about because they don’t share your obvisous political agenda, doesnt need people like you to cry for them and say everyone says bad things about them they can take care of them selves.
