Gloryus asked:

I listen to all types of music, and my dad was a musician. When some people hear that I as a black woman listen to rock, they are surprised? Why is this? I always thought that music can only be sweet to the ear that thinks it is.
My favourite band is Nickelback and I think Chad Kroger is sooo hot! lol

I’m not black but I like rock. I think all people should listen to that , alternative, and pop at least once. And I know some black people that do listen to rock. Basically, all music is good. I even listen to country sometimes…

Wow…a black woman that listens to rock music. I find that so cool and attractive. Now it causes me wonder why I find white men who listen to rap music so sad and pathetic. I guess we’re all biased.

I love rock and pop and **** all rap and most hip hop so I definitely get weird looks when people ask me what type of music I like. I think it’s silly that people think music should be specific for each race. I even like a couple of country singers :P
Yellowcard, Kutless, Switchfoot and The Fray are among my fave bands.

I listen to rock though not exclusively. If I like a song or an artist then I listen to it. The same goes for any genre. My family is very musical and I listen to and enjoy almost every form of music. Though not Country usually.

All of my friends do. I didn’t at first, but it’s hard to avoid when your best friends listen to it all the time. Its okay, they even got me into country music…shhh…don’t tell nobody….

Plenty of blacks like rock! Everyone in my family likes it and grew up on it and would always be the first in line (sometimes they would camp out) to buy the tickets to see their favorite band.

They’re the reason I came to like it so much.

Of course many people are surprised by this because they don’t know anything besides the stereotypes that are pounded into their heads through the media.

Don’t mind them and rock on!

  19. angelcutie on November 2nd, 2007 7:48 pm

The color of a persons’ skin has nothing to do with ones’ choice for music. Anyone who thinks differently needs to get out and experience life because they are in a box. Reality bites, but i can give examples you you need! It really depends on what you are influenced by a persons surroundings. Unfortunately Most people are self chosen neo-segregation and the odds are in favor for the majority rules in a person immediate setting. I personally listen to ALL music every kind type or sound. Even whistling :~

side note if you care: I kinda dislike anything over commercialized. I still listen to the radio and it is sad how Clear-channel has monopolized the industry. It is mostly fake DJ computer based crap… what about local warnings and amber alerts. computer can’t be programmed to do a humans’ job.
